Rousseau Insurance has been a family business in Biddeford for three generations. We grew up around it, learned it from the people who built it, and today the two of us lead it together, Emily on the commercial side and Matt on the personal side.
A lot about insurance has changed over the years. What has not changed is the belief we inherited. Insurance should be designed around you, the person, and not pulled off a shelf. It should be handled by someone who knows you, and built to fit the life you actually live.
Building It on Purpose
Stepping into leadership of a family agency, we could have simply kept things running the way they always had. Instead we chose to be deliberate about it. In recent years we have done the real work of defining what Rousseau stands for, writing down our mission, our vision, and the core values our team lives by, and refreshing our brand so the outside finally matched the inside.
We did that for a few clear reasons. We wanted everyone on our team pulling in the same direction, so that whoever you reach, you get the same Rousseau. We wanted our values written down and shared rather than simply assumed, because a culture only holds when people know what it is. And we wanted a brand that reflects the agency we are now, modern, growing, and reaching into new communities, while honoring the generations that built it. All of that work pointed back to one idea, the same one we started with.
