About Rousseau

Founder Paul Rousseau began his insurance career in 1952 selling from an Allstate booth at Sears Roebuck. Seven years later in 1959, he started his own independent insurance agency out of his home in Biddeford. His wife Therese was the bookkeeper and still lives in the same home today. The agency grew rapidly thanks to Paul’s outstanding reputation in the community. In 1965, they bought a location on Elm Street and operated from that office until 1986 when they purchased the larger abutting property. Paul and Therese worked in the agency side by side until they retired in 1995 leaving behind their legacy.
Son-in-law, Raymond Lambert, joined the agency in 1972 and retired in 2011. Son, Marc Rousseau, joined the agency in 1981 and retired in 2018. Son, Jim Rousseau, joined the agency in 1984 and is the agency president today. The third generation is also heavily involved in the company today including Marc's son, Matt Rousseau, who joined the agency in 2002. Jim's son, James Rousseau Jr., joined in 2008 and his daughter, Emily Rousseau, joined in 2014. They are all involved in the day-to-day management of the business.
While the company has evolved the way they do business in order to better meet customers’ needs, they have never lost sight of what truly matters - knowing each of their clients personally and treating them like family, friends, and neighbors because that’s exactly who they are.
The Rousseau family supports a number of organizations including many local youth organizations through school sports programs. They also support organizations such as the Saco VA Clinic, YMCA, Maine Cancer Foundation, local Rotary Clubs, and more.
Here for you then, here for you now, and here for you in the future.
