PAUL ROUSSEAU was born in Biddeford in 1925. At the age of
17, he enlisted in the Army Air Corp and was a bomber pilot in Europe.
He spent 2 months as a prisoner of war. After the war he graduated
from Biddeford High School and married Therese Allie. They had 4 children.
After a couple of interim jobs, Paul sold Jewelry for 6 years at Day’s
Jewelry Store. It was there that a marketing rep from Allstate suggested
that he would “make a good insurance agent.” Paul sold
insurance from an Allstate booth at Sears Roebuck for 7 years. He
said, “In those days we didn’t have a car. I used to walk
to work or I would borrow my father’s car to go see clients.”
Paul later started his own independent agency in 1959. The 1st office
was in the den of their home where his wife Therese still lives today.
Boosted by Paul solid reputation the agency grew rapidly. In 1965
he bought a location on Elm Street and operated from that office until
1986 when he purchased the larger abutting property. Paul & Therese
worked in the agency side by side until they retired in 1995.
Son-in-law Raymond Lambert joined the agency in 1972. Sons Marc and
Jim joined in the early 1980’s. The agency continues to grow
steadily from referrals and from a 2nd and 3rd generations of our
long time loyal clients. To these individuals, “We thank you
more than we can express, and we will endeavor to continue to earn
your business”. |
